The best OB. Was going through some infertility issues when I first saw Dr. Neuman. Every doctor before just added more stress and more or less blamed me for my lack of success. It was completely defeating. When I came to see Dr. Neuman, it was just because he was closer to my home. While I’m normally not the emotional type, I was in tears the first time I saw him because he spent a lot of the visit comforting me and explaining that my fertility issues were not my fault, and that we would work on them and there was hope. He gave me some tips and tricks, and a lot of different options of paths we could explore to help me conceive and help me feel in control of the process, something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Lo and behold, a month and a half later, I got the positive test. Since then he’s been a patient OB, I look forward to my visits, he answers all my questions and I never feel rushed out. Couldn’t be happier.

Candidates for infertility treatment include couples who have been trying to conceive for at least a year without success or six months if the woman is over 35. Individuals with known reproductive issues, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, or low sperm count, may also seek infertility treatments. Those who have experienced multiple miscarriages or irregular menstrual cycles may benefit from further evaluation and treatment options. A consultation with a fertility specialist at Mid Nassau OBGYN can help determine the best course of action.

Is infertility the same thing as being sterile?

No, infertility is not the same as being unable to conceive altogether. Infertility refers to the inability to get pregnant after a year or more of trying, but it doesn't mean conception is impossible. Sterility, on the other hand, means that a woman has no ovaries, no uterus, or no egg production or that a man is not producing sperm, which makes conception not possible.

How common is infertility?

Infertility is more common than you might think, affecting an estimated 10 – 15 percent of couples in the United States. If you and your partner are facing infertility, you're not alone. At Mid Nassau OBGYN in Massapequa and Hewlett, NY, we offer a range of personalized treatments designed to give you the best possible chance of conceiving.

What factors contribute to infertility other than medical conditions?

Many couples are aware that medical conditions like endometriosis or ovulation disorders can lead to infertility, but lifestyle factors also play a significant role. Stress, poor diet, and excessive exercise can all affect your fertility. At Mid Nassau OBGYN, Dr. Mark Neuman takes a holistic approach to treatment, addressing all potential factors contributing to infertility.
